Halibut Cove Limit of Kings

38 lb halibut cove lagoon king

Halibut Cove Lagoon: King Salmon fishing is good in Halibut Cove Lagoon between May 25th and June 20th. The fishing grounds are just 25 minutes from the Homer harbor and there is great camping available there. We've had success casting lures at passing schools, using salmon eggs, and fishing with herring. The size of the Kings range from 5 to 40 pounds.

Humpy Creek: Humpy Creek has a run of Chum Salmon, Pink Salmon, and Dolly Vardon. Fishing is good at Humpy between July 10th and August 20th. It is a pristine, crystal clear stream, which can be successfully fished with a pair of hip or chest waders. Humpy Creek offers an excellent opportunity for fly and light tackle spinning rod fishing. Humpy Creek is just 25 minutes from the Homer harbor, but it is not heavily fished. Visitors to Humpy are always in awe of its beauty and return with stories of multiple hook-ups.

Fun at Humpy Creek

China Poot Bay: During the month of July, red fishing is great at China Poot Creek. Alaska residents are allowed to dip net for them in the creek and non-residents may snag them below the mouth of the stream. Either way it is not difficult to catch your limit.

Tutka Lagoon: Tutka Lagoon is fun fishing for the whole family! This is strictly a Pink Salmon fishery. It's a lot of fun as Pinks really love to bite. There's a great campsite right by the shore of the lagoon. Visitors can set up there and fish from shore. Fishermen have been very successful casting lures and fly fishing. Tutka Lagoon is only navigable right around high tide.

Clam digging: China Poot is our preference for clam digging. We'll take you there. All you need are warm cloths, rain pants, rubber boots, digging tools, and a bucket for your clams. Use the tide tables link below to select a good tide for clam digging. In order to have adequate time, you want at least a minus 1.0 foot low tide.
